Step 1: Are You Eligible for Financial Assistance?

You are eligible for BlackRock’s Continuing Education Program if:

  • You are a permanent full-time or part-time employee* before coursework begins (contingent workers and interns are not eligible)
  • Your performance is satisfactory, as determined by your manager
  • You have the approval of your manager

*Note: In the U.S., employees need to work at least 20 hours per week to be eligible. In all other regions, part-time employees are eligible regardless of number of hours worked.

BlackRock will reimburse course fees including fees for learning materials, enrolment and exam and exam registration. In the event that you fail your exam, you should inform you manager immediately. BlackRock will not reimburse any failed attempts or re-sits for a qualification.

BlackRock will only reimburse for the CFA® and FRM® exam registrations up until the second enrolment deadline.

Time off to sit the exam should be discussed promptly with your manager and any travel/accommodation fees associated with you course must be met by you personally and will not be covered by BlackRock.

Membership fees associated with your qualification may be paid by BlackRock subject to manager approval. Membership fees are not covered under the Continuing Education Program (CEP).

Financial assistance for the courses available through this portal will not be given retrospectively and costs will not be met for study undertaken whilst in previous employment with another company. Employees are expected to meet all the costs for courses registered through this portal.

Study Leave
BlackRock allow a maximum of five days paid leave per annum, plus the number of days required to sit the examinations. Study leave does not cover time needed to attend a program. If a program requires time off during the work day, you should discuss this with your manager before completing the booking process. All study leave is subject to manager approval.


Notification of Pass/Fail
In most cases BlackRock Global Talent Management will be notified of your exam results. However, if they have not been informed, you are responsible for notifying them of the outcome of your exam. Also you should notify your line manager immediately, should you be unsuccessful in your exam. Also you should notify your line manager immediately, should you be unsuccessful in your exam.


Cancellation or deferment
In the event that you wish to defer or cancel your course/examination please contact your relevant account manager at Kaplan with your line manager’s approval and justification for deferment/cancellation.

If cancelling or differing your exam, please contact the relevant awarding body.


Reimbursement
The reimbursement of eligible fees will occur after the successful completion of the course or program. Employees must submit a request for reimbursement within 120 days of receipt of a pass grade. Employees must submit a CEP Reimbursement Form, with appropriate approval and proof of successful exam completion and payment receipts to Employee Services.

Reimbursement will be made within 30 days of the form’s submission or a written denial request. The written denial will include the reason for denial and describe additional information that may be needed to remedy the denial, if applicable.


Leaving BlackRock
On leaving the company for any reason other than redundancy you shall repay: 100% of all fees and costs paid to date by BlackRock on your behalf, where you leave within 12 months of completing your course of study.

Step 2: Get Approval from Your Manager

To begin the order process, please complete the appropriate Blackrock approval form via the relevant qualification homepage.

If you have not received approval within two business days from the date you submitted the form, please contact your manager.

Step 3: Order Your Study Materials

For EMEA and APAC orders:

Upon your manager’s approval, please allow two business days to receive an email or call from a Kaplan Representative to give you payment instructions for your booking.

Once Kaplan receives your manager’s approval, a representative will contact you within two working days with instructions on how to complete the booking process. Please note you would need your credit or debit card for payment or alternatively, payment can be done via bank transfer (upon request).
